Supporting your Environmental Goals

We are dedicated to reducing our carbon footprint through innovative solutions and energy efficient processes.

Our Commitment to a Greener Future

We implement eco-friendly practices to reduce environmental impacts from our manufacturing process and contribute to a greener tomorrow.

Core principles

We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint, recycling steel, and increasing the use of sustainable materials in our products.

Looking forward…

Our Sustainability Group meets monthly to explore how we can operate in a more sustainable manner, continually implementing new policies and ideas to reduce our environmental impact.

ISO 14001:2015

Dalen is ISO 14001:2015 accredited and we work with our supply chain to ensure all worktops are FSC certified.

Our Pledge
Net zero emissions by 2047

Sustainable Practices

Electric Car Scheme

We have partnered with The Electric Car Scheme to promote the adoption of electric cars amongst employees, reducing our carbon footprint and contributing to a more sustainable path forward.

Investment in new machinery

TOP-TEC continuously upgrades its machinery to improve quality and reduce waste. Each new, energy-efficient machine boosts performance and reduces our carbon footprint.

3D printing

Where possible, we have moved from trialling prototype designs out of steel to PLA (Polylactic Acid), a versatile biodegradable plastic.

Achieving Level 1 on NHS Evergreen Sustainable Supplier Assessment
The Assessment is a self-assessment and reporting tool and resulted in us receiving a [Level 1: Publicly committed to net zero carbon and engaged with sustainability]. The information reported through Evergreen is supporting us to understand our alignment with NHS sustainability priorities and identify those areas in which we need to accelerate progress.

Partnering Locally, Working Sustainably

Recycling responsibly

We collaborate with local waste collection companies to recycle steel off-cuts, cardboard, paper, and plastics.

Sourcing from local suppliers

As a UK manufacturer, we partner with local suppliers to source raw materials, significantly reducing our carbon footprint compared to international sourcing.

Creating a Circular Economy: Recycled Worktops

We can now offer environmentally friendly worktops manufactured with 100% recycled plastic.

This marks a significant stride in our commitment to eco-friendly practices, as we continually strive to contribute to a greener world.

How does it work?

Our supplier recycles discarded plastics from waste that would otherwise end up in a landfill, they then use this waste to create high-quality and ecofriendly worktops.

By diverting waste from landfills and transforming it into something we can use, we are closing the loop on plastic waste.

Our worktops are not just sustainable; they’re part of a larger movement to change how we use, reuse, and repurpose to minimise waste and environmental negative impact.

Working Towards Net Zero

As part of our commitment to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2047, we have set clear goals, are measuring emissions, and have published a carbon reduction plan.

Recently, we have installed a 31.5kWp solar power generation system on the roof of Works 3 to reduce our emissions and energy costs. This system is expected to reduce our carbon emissions by 12,850kg CO2 per year!

This is one of many projects in the works, and we look forward to sharing more as we progress!

What are our plans for the future?

Over the coming years we have immediate plans to implement further measures including:

  • Improved energy efficiency in powder coating operations
  • Electrification of goods vehicles
  • Management of supply chain emissions
  • Increased use of sustainable packaging materials
  • Increased use of post-consumer recycled materials in product design
