University of Sheffield – Transforming Learning Spaces

The University of Sheffield recently underwent a campus wide project to renovate classroom and seminar spaces in the Diamond and Wave buildings.

They wanted to improve the style and quality of their learning facilities across campus to help meet the University’s long-term vision and continuously improve teaching and learning experiences.

Having previously worked with TOP-TEC provide Audio Visual Lecterns and Collaborative Furniture for their learning spaces, the university was confident that we would be the right partner for this project.

University of Edinburgh – Flexible learning and teaching spaces upgrades

With some of the largest campuses and estates in the UK, the learning spaces team situated at the University of Edinburgh support the implementation and use of technology in its wide range of teaching spaces.

The team wanted to further advance these spaces and where in the process of embarking on a campus-wide renovation project.

Having worked with TOP-TEC in the past, the university was confident that TOP-TEC would be the right partner for this project.

South-Central Institute of Technology / MK College -Creating an Innovative Learning Hub

This exciting project involved a new building at Bletchley Campus in Milton Keynes with the aim of providing opportunities for education and training in crucial tech skills, meeting the needs of businesses and inspiring digital futures.

The institute wanted to make one of the rooms in the new building into a dynamic collaborative learning space, designed to promote teamwork and enhance student engagement. To achieve this vision, TOP-TEC collaborated with Roche AV to help bring SCIoT’s innovative learning environment to life.

Cardiff University – From Lecture Room to Team-based Learning Environment

Collaborative teaching and learning spaces are key within education environments. In fact, research shows that students in new, technology-enhanced collaborative learning spaces exceed grade expectations (Insider Higher Ed, 2022).

Cardiff University wanted to populate two large spaces for 300 students that would encourage group and team-based learning in their engineering department. One of their key strategic objectives was to create spaces to support their goal of transitioning from lecture-based styles of learning to more project-based learning environments.

Ulster University – Effective Active Learning Environments

We recently had the opportunity to collaborate with Ulster University and Pure AV to provide a flexible and active learning solution for a new teaching space.

The University wanted to introduce a solution to help facilitate multiple teaching styles by supporting small collaborative group working as well as presenting to large groups of students.

They also wanted to offer the ability to adapt to any future teaching requirements by redeploying these screens to different spaces throughout the new campus where there were no existing screens on the wall.

Cardiff University – Creating engaging + dynamic learning environments

We recently collaborated with Cardiff University to develop some exciting spaces in the new ABACWS building.

For this particular project we focused on two rooms, a large Collaborative IT Space and a Cyber Forensics Lab. For the IT Space, the University wanted to employ an ‘all eyes on the lecturer’ style, which required students to maintain eye contact when the lecturer is presenting at all times whilst avoiding fixed screens which would obscure the line of site.

University of Greenwich – Collaborative Learning Spaces

TOP-TEC provided a collaborative learning solution for ten group study rooms in the Stockwell Street Building situated at the Greenwich Campus.

University of Greenwich had previously collaborated with TOP-TEC on several other projects which required a solution specifically tailored to their requirements that fulfilled key criteria. University of Greenwich wanted to engage with a trusted furniture solution provider that could create a bespoke solution.

The University of Bristol are renowned for combining a proud tradition of academic excellence with an innovative, forward thinking spirit. This is represented by their continuous commitment to providing the best facilities available to enhance and improve the student experience wherever they can.

Their main aim was to create spaces that were engaging, interactive and easy to use and provide students with an environment that would encourage collaboration and group work.

University of Wolverhampton – Emergency and Disaster Planning Room (Telford Innovation Campus)

The University had a clear idea of what needed to be achieved. He required a different style of learning space to traditional classrooms, and wanted to introduce collaborative style tables to encourage group and Active Learning. TOP-TEC were tasked with maximising the use out of the area to provide space for as many students as possible, whilst still maintaining an effective collaborative working environment.
