University of Sheffield – Transforming Learning Spaces

The University of Sheffield recently underwent a campus wide project to renovate classroom and seminar spaces in the Diamond and Wave buildings.

They wanted to improve the style and quality of their learning facilities across campus to help meet the University’s long-term vision and continuously improve teaching and learning experiences.

Having previously worked with TOP-TEC provide Audio Visual Lecterns and Collaborative Furniture for their learning spaces, the university was confident that we would be the right partner for this project.

University of Edinburgh – Flexible learning and teaching spaces upgrades

With some of the largest campuses and estates in the UK, the learning spaces team situated at the University of Edinburgh support the implementation and use of technology in its wide range of teaching spaces.

The team wanted to further advance these spaces and where in the process of embarking on a campus-wide renovation project.

Having worked with TOP-TEC in the past, the university was confident that TOP-TEC would be the right partner for this project.

Derby College Group Business Centre – Enhancing partnerships with employers and College curriculum leaders

Derby College Group (DCG) were looking to refurbish one of their existing spaces and repurpose it as a brand-new Business Centre in collaboration with technology partner Fujitsu. The main objective for this new project was to help produce a high-quality facility which would be the focal point for partnership work with employers, other education providers and stakeholders.

Derby College Group – Creating the right Esports space

We were recently approached by Derby College, who were looking to create and launch a space that would be used in conjunction with one of their first ever Esports courses.

The college wanted to see if we could assist in designing the new space and work together to combine our experience in education with gaming influences to create the Esports “look and feel” that they wanted. TOP-TEC happily took up the challenge, providing students with an environment where they could be fully immersed in the Esports gaming culture.

University of Southampton – Centenary Building – Creating exceptional teaching & learning spaces

The University of Southampton’s new Centenary Building was developed to provide students with state of the art facilities to enhance their learning.

As part of this project, we were approached by AV Professional Specialist John Lilley to provide ‘lecturer benches’ for several new spaces including a large 250-seat theatre and several smaller rooms.

The University of Bristol are renowned for combining a proud tradition of academic excellence with an innovative, forward thinking spirit. This is represented by their continuous commitment to providing the best facilities available to enhance and improve the student experience wherever they can.

Their main aim was to create spaces that were engaging, interactive and easy to use and provide students with an environment that would encourage collaboration and group work.

University of Bedfordshire

The University of Bedfordshire wanted to upgrade their engineering laboratories as part of their brand-ew flagship Luton Campus project.

They required bespoke lectern solutions that would be able to suit the users’ needs. The University required mobile and height adjustable teaching stations and each unit also needed to incorporate Trespa worktops for use in the labs and worktop handles, smooth castors and an effective cable management system.

Leeds University Business School – Collaborative Teaching Space – Charles Thackrah Building

Leeds University Business School wanted to create a space to promote active and experiential learning that was more student-centred. The new learning suite would need to accommodate 100 students at a time and be fitted out with furniture that would encourage team-based learning.

Newcastle University – Urban Sciences Building – Flexible Teaching Spaces

As part of a new flagship development, the project team at the Urban Sciences Building (USB) were tasked with creating flexible teaching spaces that could be used for ICT and non-ICT related tasks. The space would need to accommodate up to 312 students over three large rooms and also be Equality Act Compliant.

University of Wolverhampton – Emergency and Disaster Planning Room (Telford Innovation Campus)

The University had a clear idea of what needed to be achieved. He required a different style of learning space to traditional classrooms, and wanted to introduce collaborative style tables to encourage group and Active Learning. TOP-TEC were tasked with maximising the use out of the area to provide space for as many students as possible, whilst still maintaining an effective collaborative working environment.

City, University of London – Teaching & Computer Labs – Drysdale Building Project

OP-TEC developed a range of technical furniture solutions for a series of learning and IT labs in the newly refurbished Drysdale Building at City, University of London. The overall objective was to update and enhance the University’s IT facilities and increase the number of open access PC workstations available for 300 students. TOP-TEC developed a range of custom desking solutions specific to the University’s requirements, that offered students complete flexibility and maximised the use of space throughout the building.
